My First Maternity Photo Shoot!

I photographed Derrick's sister, Stacy, two weeks ago. It turned out to be pretty good timing because she delivered Hayden Reese 1 week later (and 1 month early)! Here's some of my favorites. Newborn pictures of Hayden to follow after she is released from the hospital.

I went to the park yesterday with my sister, cousin and aunt. It was a beautiful day and the hillsides were covered in wild mustard flowers. I always knew I had gorgeous relatives but watching them smiling surrounded by flowers really brought it to my attention.

A Beautiful Day At The Beach

I went down to the beach today in between rainstorms to take pictures and look at the tide pools with Derrick. It was cold but beautiful. It was so peaceful to walk on the beach without other people around, especially in Southern California where there are always people on the beach. Here's my favorite picture from the day. Jonathan Turns One!

Jonathan's first birthday party was this weekend and it was a lot of fun. His mom bought him an adorable cake and he loved Elmo ball Derrick and I got him. Here's a snapshot of him enjoying being the birthday boy.

The semester is finally over so I'll be working on my own projects until we move to Ohio. If you want some pictures taken or know anyone who does, let me know! I'm working on my portfolio. Here's one I took of Stitch before I had to turn back in all the fun lighting equipment to OCC.

Portrait of a Make-Up Artist

When my professor assigned me to do a portrait of a make-up artist I was disappointed. I had been looking forward to the Environmental Portrait assignment all semester with the idea that I would photograph a chef, a firefighter or a police officer. I was able to meet with a make-up artist via some family connections and completed my assignment. The problem was, neither my professor nor I were satisfied with my images. Lucky for me, I have an amazing boyfriend who was willing to wear make-up for the first time in his life and pose as my model so I could reshoot the project. America's Next Top Bird Model

I went to the park today to work on my Camera Test Project and found this bird who loved the camera. He watched me and waited while I set up my tripod, changed lenses and messed with my camera setttings. After I was done I told the bird (yes I talked to the bird like some crazy lady in the park) that I was done and would leave him alone now. He looked at me and then flew away. That bird made my day.

I had a lot of fun shooting my motion, strobe, studio, group portrait. Even with all of the complications that happened throughout the shoot, the images turned out alright. Alyssa and Marie did a great job smiling for the camera while they were getting soaked by the bubble machine!

It's been a busy month! My photo classes have been taking up a lot of my time and attention but midterms are finally over and it looks like it will be smooth sailing from here. Here's a sample from my Calendar Project, representing the month of October.

For my latest assignment we had to do a studio portrait using tungsten lights. I was lucky enough to have my dad and mom help me out by being my model and my lovely assistant. I'm pretty proud of myself considering this was my first time setting up a studio and figuring out the lighting equipment. Here's a few of my favorite images.

Battle Of The Dolls

For my first assignment for one of my photo classes we had to shoot a CD cover for a band's self-titled debut album. Out of the four bands we were given (all had weird names) I chose to be the photographer for Decadent Punish. If you look up "decadent" in the dictionary, one of the definitions is, "A moral decline of society." So after quite a bit of brainstorming, I came up with showing a Barbie and a Bratz doll fighting. Special thanks to my cousin Alyssa and Jina's daughter Emilie for letting me borrow their dolls and accessories! Here's some of the images from the shoot.
